RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: This study was designed to estimate the effect of sticky bone combined with concentrated growth factor (CGF) on anterior alveolar horizontal augmentation during implantation. METHODS: Twenty-eight patients were randomly assigned to either the test group (Group 1, n = 14) or the control group (Group 2, n = 14). Patients in Group 1 and Group 2 underwent GBR using sticky bone combined with CGF and bone powders mixed with saline, respectively. On postoperative Day 7, the patients completed the visual analogue scale (VAS). Three-dimensional models of maxillary alveolar bone were reconstructed from CBCT data at different periods, and the bone volume conversion rate was calculated with the assistance of a measurement marker guide. Labial bone thickness before and after trauma closure and bone density at six months postoperatively were also measured. RESULTS: The mean bone volume conversion rate for Group 1 (72.09 ± 12.18%) was greater than that for Group 2 (57.47 ± 9.62%, P = 0.002). The VAS score was lower for Group 1 than for Group 2 (P = 0.032). At six months postoperatively, greater bone density was found in patients in Group 1 than in those in Group 2, although the difference was not statistically significant (P > 0.05). The change in the thickness of the labial bone graft material in Group 1 was smaller than that in Group 2 (P = 0.025). CONCLUSION: Sticky bone combined with CGF was able to achieve better bone augmentation than conventional GBR. With excellent mechanical properties and the capacity to release growth factors, sticky bone is an ideal material for bone grafting. TRIAL REGISTRATION: The study was registered at the Chinese Clinical Trial Registry on 10/04/2022 (Identification number: ChiCTR2200058500).

RESUMO

Organic polymer photocatalysts have achieved significant progress in photocatalytic hydrogen evolution, while developing the integrated organic polymers possessing the functions of photosensitizer, electron transfer mediator, and catalyst simultaneously is urgently needed and presents a great challenge. Considering that chalcogenoviologens are able to act as photosensitizers and electron-transfer mediators, a series of chalcogenoviologen-containing platinum(II)-based supramolecular polymers is designed, which exhibited strong visible light-absorbing ability and suitable bandgap for highly efficient photocatalytic hydrogen evolution without the use of a cocatalyst. The hydrogen evolution rate (HER) increases steadily with the decrease in an optical gap of the polymer. Among these "all-in-one" polymers, Se-containing 2D porous polymer exhibited the best photocatalytic performance with a HER of 3.09 mmol g-1 h-1 under visible light (>420 nm) irradiation. Experimental and theoretical calculations reveal that the distinct intramolecular charge transfer characteristics and heteroatom N in terpyridine unit promote charge separation and transfer within the molecules. This work could provide new insights into the design of metallo-supramolecular polymers with finely tuned components for photocatalytic hydrogen evolution from water.

RESUMO

Luminescent organic radicals, especially those with photoactivated circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) features, hold great significance for cutting-edge optoelectronic applications, but their development still remains a challenge. In this study, we propose a novel strategy to achieve photoactivated CPL radicals by bonding two phosphine centers within an axial chiral system, yielding a compound of R/S-5,5-bis(diphenylphosphino)-4,4'-bibenzo[d][1,3]dioxole (R/S-BDP). The photoactivated R/S-BDP molecules in polymer matrix display a robust quantum yield of 19.8 % and a dissymmetry factor (glum) of 1.2×10-4, marking this work as the first example of photoactivated CPL radicals. Furthermore, the glum is improved to 1.0×10-2 by using a liquid crystal as host. Experimental and theoretical analyses reveal that R/S-BDP molecules, endowed with double phosphine cores in axial chirality, offer a direct way for intramolecular electron transfer upon photoirradiation. This leads to the generation of radical ionic pairs, which subsequently trigger the donor-acceptor arrangement through intermolecular electron transfer, thereby resulting in stable radical emission. The extended photoactivated BDP-F exhibits a remarkably high quantum efficiency of 57.8%. Ultimately, the distinctive photo-responsive CPL radical luminescence has been successfully used for information displays and anti-counterfeiting.

RESUMO

Narrowband blue emitters are indispensable in achieving ultrahigh-definition OLED displays that satisfy the stringent BT 2020 standard. Hereby, a series of bis-tridentate Ir(III) complexes bearing electron-deficient imidazo[4,5-b]pyridin-2-ylidene carbene coordination fragments and 2,6-diaryloxy pyridine ancillary groups were designed and synthesized. They exhibited deep blue emission with quantum yields of up to 89% and a radiative lifetime of 0.71 µs in the DPEPO host matrix, indicating both the high efficiency and excellent energy transfer process from the host to dopant. The OLED based on Irtb1 showed an emission at 468 nm with a maximum external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 22.7%. Moreover, the hyper-OLED with Irtb1 as a sensitizer for transferring energy to terminal emitter v-DABNA exhibited a narrowband blue emission at 472 nm and full width at half-maximum (FWHM) of 24 nm, a maximum EQE of 23.5%, and EQEs of 19.7, 16.1, and 12.9% at a practical brightness of 100, 1000, and 5000 cd/m2, respectively.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: The contribution of hypoxia to the pathophysiology of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) has not yet been fully elucidated. This study evaluated the effect of hypoxia on the phenotype and function of SMCs derived from the human normal great saphenous veins (NGSVs). METHODS: Fifteen NGSV tissue samples were collected. SMCs were isolated and cultured. Proliferation, migration, adhesion, senescence, and the structure of cytoskeletal filaments in SMCs were observed. mRNA and protein expression of Bax, Bcl-2, caspase-3, matrix metalloproteinases (MMP)-2, MMP-9, tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases (TIMP)-1, and TIMP-2 was detected by fluorescent quantitative polymerase chain reaction and immunoblotting in the cobalt chloride (CoCl2) and the control groups. RESULTS: A decrease in the number of cytoskeletal filaments was observed. mRNA and protein expression of Bas and caspase-3 was significantly decreased, while the quantity of proliferation, migration, adhesion, senescence, and mRNA and protein expression of Bcl-2, MMP-2, MMP-9, TIMP-1, and TIMP-2 in SMCs in the CoCl2 group were significantly increased compared with the control group. CONCLUSION: Under hypoxic conditions, the phenotype and function of SMCs derived from the human NGSVs were dysregulated, suggesting that VSMCs switch from the contractile phenotype to the secretory or synthetic phenotype, and more dedifferentiate, resulting in extracellular matrix deposition and apoptotic decrease through the intrinsic pathway.

RESUMO

Autism spectrum disorders (ASD) is a group of heterogeneous neurodevelopmental disorders. Evidence has implied that environmental pollutants are important factors related to ASD. In this study, several environmental endocrine-disrupting chemicals, including parabens, benzophenone-type ultraviolet filters, hydroxyl polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, triclosan and tetrabromobisphenol A were analyzed in blood plasma in ASD children (n = 34) and the control children (n = 28). The results showed that parabens were the most concentrated chemicals (2.18 ng/mL, median value), followed by hydroxyl polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (0.73 ng/mL), benzophenone-type ultraviolet filters (0.14 ng/mL), triclosan (0.13 ng/mL) and tetrabromobisphenol A (0.03 ng/mL). ASD children accumulated significantly lower 2-hydroxy-4-methoxybenzophenone, 2,4-dihydroxybenzophenone, 4-hydroxybenzophenone and triclosan but higher 2-hydroxyphenanthrene and tetrabromobisphenol A than the control children (0.02/0.09 ng/mL of 2-hydroxy-4-methoxybenzophenone, p < 0.05; 0.04/0.07 ng/mL of 2,4-dihydroxybenzophenone, p < 0.05; 0.03/0.04 ng/mL of 4-hydroxybenzophenone, p < 0.05; 0.13/1.22 ng/mL of triclosan, p < 0.01; 0.03 ng/mL/not detected of 2-hydroxyphenanthrene, p < 0.05; 0.03/0.004 ng/mL of tetrabromobisphenol A, p < 0.05). Gender differences in certain environmental endocrine-disrupting chemicals were evident, and the differences were more inclined toward boys. Positive associations between 2-hydroxy-4-methoxybenzophenone and triclosan, and tetrabromobisphenol A and 2-hydroxyphenanthrene were found in ASD boys. Binary logistic regression analysis showed that the adjusted odds ratio value of 2-hydroxyphenanthrene in ASD boys was 11.0 (1.45-84.0, p < 0.05). This is the first pilot study on multiple environmental endocrine-disrupting chemicals in children with ASD in China.

RESUMO

Livestock grazing is the primary practice in alpine meadows and can alter soil microbiomes, which is critical for ecosystem functions and services. Seasonal grazing (SG) and continuous grazing (CG) are two kinds of different grazing practices that dominate alpine meadows on the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau (QTP), and how they affect soil microbial communities remains in-depth exploration. The present study was conducted to investigate the effects of different grazing practices (i.e., SG and CG) on the diversity, composition, and co-occurrence networks of soil bacteria and fungi in QTP alpine meadows. Soil microbial α- and ß-diversity showed no obvious difference between SG and CG grasslands. Grazing practices had little impact on soil microbial composition, except that the relative abundance of Proteobacteria and Ascomycota showed significant difference between SG and CG grasslands. Soil microbial networks were more complex and less stable in SG grasslands than that in CG grasslands, and the bacterial networks were more complex than fungal networks. Soil fungal diversity was more strongly correlated with environmental factors than bacteria, whereas both fungal and bacterial structures were mainly influenced by soil pH, total nitrogen, and ammonium nitrogen. These findings indicate that microbial associations are more sensitive to grazing practices than microbial diversity and composition, and that SG may be a better grazing practice for ecological benefits in alpine meadows.

RESUMO

Itching and pain are distinct unpleasant sensations. The transient receptor potential cation channel subfamily V member 4 (TRPV4) pathway is regarded as a shared pathway that mediates pain and itching. Vitexin (Mujingsu, MJS), a C-glycosylflavonoid, is an effective analgesic. This study aimed to explore the antinociceptive and anti-pruritic effects of MJS and whether its effects are mediated via the TRPV4 pathway. Mice were treated with MJS (7.5 mg/kg) 0.5 h prior to the initiation of the pain or itch modeling process. The results showed that MJS suppressed pain-like behavior in hot plate, thermal infiltration, glacial acetic acid twisting, and formalin tests. Administration of MJS decreased the pruritus response induced by histamine, C48/80, chloroquine and BAM8-22 within 30 min. MJS reduced scratching bouts and lessened the wiping reaction of mice under TRPV4 activation by GSK101 (10 µg/5 µl). MJS inhibited scratching behavior in acetone-ether-water (AEW)-treated mice within 60 min. An H1 receptor antagonist-chlorpheniramine (CLP, 400 mg/kg)-and a TRPV4 antagonist-HC067047 (250 ng/kg), exhibited similar effects to those of MJS. Moreover, MJS ameliorated dry skin itch-associated cutaneous barrier disruption in mice. MJS did not inhibit the expression of TRPV4 in the dorsal root ganglion neurons at L2-L3 in AEW mice. These results indicate that the analgesic and anti-pruritic effects of MJS in acute and chronic pain and itching, as well as itching caused by TRPV4 activation, could be attributed to the TRPV4 pathway modulation.

RESUMO

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) or metabolic-associated fatty liver disease has been characterized by the lipid accumulation with injury of hepatocytes and has become one of the most common chronic liver diseases in the world. The complex mechanisms of NAFLD formation are still under identification. Carnitine palmitoyltransferase-II (CPT-II) on inner mitochondrial membrane (IMM) regulates long chain fatty acid ß-oxidation, and its abnormality has had more and more attention paid to it by basic and clinical research in NAFLD. The sequences of its peptide chain and DNA nucleotides have been identified, and the catalytic activity of CPT-II is affected on its gene mutations, deficiency, enzymatic thermal instability, circulating carnitine level and so on. Recently, the CPT-II dysfunction has been discovered in models of liver lipid accumulation. Meanwhile, the malignant transformation of hepatocyte-related CD44+ stem T cell activation, high levels of tumor-related biomarkers (AFP, GPC3) and abnormal activation of Wnt3a expression as a key signal molecule of the Wnt/ß-catenin pathway run parallel to the alterations of hepatocyte pathology. This review focuses on some of the progress of CPT-II inactivity on IMM with liver fatty accumulation as a possible novel pathogenesis for NAFLD in hepatocarcinogenesis.

RESUMO

It was previously reported that afforestation in the desert can help improve soil texture, carbon accumulation, and nutrient status. However, the effects of afforestation on soil microbial composition, diversity, and microbial interactions with soil physicochemical properties have been rarely evaluated quantitatively. Using the method of space-for-time substitutions, we assessed the development and determinants of topsoil bacterial and fungal communities over nearly 40 years of successive afforestation by aerial sowing in Tengger Desert, China. The results showed that afforestation by aerial sowing comprised a considerable proportion of Chloroflexi and Acidobacteria in the bacterial community in addition to the ubiquitous phyla found in desert but had fewer effects on the dominant phyla of the fungal community. At the phylum level, the bacterial community was clearly clustered into two groups. However, it was difficult to differentiate the constituents of the fungal community based on principal coordinate analysis. The richness of the bacterial and fungal communities was significantly higher after five years than at zero years and three years. Additionally, the bacterial community varied parabolically and reached its largest size at twenty years, while the fungal community increased exponentially. Soil physicochemical properties were found to have divergent effects on the abundance and diversity of bacterial and fungal communities, among which salt- and carbon-associated properties (e.g., electrical conductivity, calcium, magnesium, total carbon, and organic carbon) were closely related with the abundance of bacterial-dominant phyla and the diversity of bacteria and fungi, but nutrient-associated properties (e.g., total phosphorus and available phosphorus) were not. The results indicate that afforestation through the salt secretions of plants leaves and carbon inputs from litter promote the development of topsoil bacterial and fungal communities in the desert.

RESUMO

The genus Diestramima comprises 41 species from Asia with 31 species distributed in China. In this study, we reconstruct the phylogeny tree of Diestramima species by maximum likelihood and Bayesian inference based on three mitochondrial genes (COI, 12S and 16S). The result indicates that the phylogenetic results are coherent with that based on five molecular markers (COI, 12S, 16S, 18S and 28S). Moreover, two new species, D. pingmengensis sp. nov. He & Zong and D. gulinjingensis. sp. nov. Zong & He are described. Their validities are also supported by morphological features. Furthermore, D. sichuanensis Zhu & Shi, 2022 is treated as a junior synonym of D. guangxiensis Qin, Wang, Liu & Li, 2016 based on both morphological and molecular features.

RESUMO

Resonant integrated optical gyroscopes (RIOGs) can integrate discrete optical components as a promising candidate for high-performance micro-optical gyroscopes. However, the current RIOG still consists of discrete elements due to the difficulty and complexity of heterogeneous integration of resonator and modulators. This paper presents on-chip integration of optical functional components including modulator, resonator, beam splitter, and coupler for the organic-polymer-based RIOG. Simple integrated optical processes such as spin coating, lithography, and etching can realize RIOG chips with low cost, size, weight, and power (CSWaP) features. Thereinto, the electro-optic modulator (EOM) fabricated by self-synthesized electro-optic (EO) polymer (side chain bonded polyurethane imide) exhibits less than 2 V half-wave voltage, which is half of the lithium niobate (LiNbO3) modulator. With respect to the resonator, a quality factor of approximately million was achieved using low-loss fluorinated polymer. In addition, the angular velocity sensing of RIOG was also investigated. By demonstrating the monolithic integration of the resonator and modulators, such an all-polymer RIOG chip prototype builds the technical foundation for the precision fully integrated optical gyroscope.

RESUMO

Plants adapt to changes in elevation by regulating their leaf ecological stoichiometry. Potentilla anserina L. that grows rapidly under poor or even bare soil conditions has become an important ground cover plant for ecological restoration. However, its leaf ecological stoichiometry has been given little attention, resulting in an insufficient understanding of its environmental adaptability and growth strategies. The objective of this study was to compare the leaf stoichiometry of P. anserina at different elevations (2,400, 2,600, 2,800, 3,000, 3,200, 3,500, and 3,800 m) in the middle eastern part of Qilian Mountains. With an increase in elevation, leaf carbon concentration [(C)leaf] significantly decreased, with the maximum value of 446.04 g·kg-1 (2,400 m) and the minimum value of 396.78 g·kg-1 (3,500 m). Leaf nitrogen concentration [(N)leaf] also increased with an increase in elevation, and its maximum and minimum values were 37.57 g·kg-1 (3,500 m) and 23.71 g·kg-1 (2,800 m), respectively. Leaf phosphorus concentration [(P)leaf] was the highest (2.79 g·kg-1) at 2,400 m and the lowest (0.91 g·kg-1) at 2,800 m. The [C]leaf/[N]leaf decreased with an increase in elevation, while [N]leaf/[P]leaf showed an opposite trend. The mean annual temperature, mean annual precipitation, soil pH, organic carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus at different elevations mainly affected [C]leaf, [N]leaf, and [P]leaf. The growth of P. anserina in the study area was mainly limited by P, and this limitation was stronger with increased elevation. Progressively reducing P loss at high elevation is of great significance to the survival of P. anserina in this specific region.

RESUMO

In this paper, we investigate the effects of taper angle on the SERS detection sensitivity using tapered fiber probes with single-layer uniform gold spherical nanoparticles (GSNs). We show that the photothermal damage caused by excessive excitation laser power is the main factor that restricts the improvement of detection sensitivity of tapered fiber probes. Only when the cone angle is appropriate can a balance be achieved between increasing the excitation laser power and suppression of the transmission and scattering losses of the nanoparticles on the tapered fiber surface, thereby obtaining the best SERS detection sensitivity. Furthermore, the optimal cone angle depends on the complex refractive index of the equivalent composite dielectric (ECD) layer containing GSNs. For three SERS fiber probes with different ECD layers, the optimal cone angles measured are between 11-13°.

RESUMO

Purpose: Hypoxia plays an essential role in the progression of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), whereas hypoxia inducible factor-1 (HIF-1) is the key transcription factor allowing HCC to survive hypoxia. The aim of this study was to define the essential mRNAs and miRNAs regulated by HIF1A and dissect their functions, interactions, and tumor-infiltrating immune cells in HCC. Methods: A human HCC cell line HepG2 was used as a cell model of HCC. The CRISPR/Cas9 system was used to knock out HIF1A in HepG2 cells, and RNA sequencing was utilized to characterize differentially expressed mRNAs and miRNAs in the HIF1A-knockout HepG2 cells; the identified candidates were then analyzed by GO annotation and KEGG pathway enrichment to study their function and establish a PPI network. Quantitative (q) PCR was used to verify if there were significant differences in the expression of mRNAs, and the association of the selected mRNAs expression with immune cell infiltration levels was further analyzed using The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) pan-cancer data. Results: Using RNA-sequencing, we discovered that there were 1535 mRNAs differentially expressed (adjusted p < 0.05, |fold change|>1.5) in the HIF1A-knockout HepG2 cells, among which there were 644 mRNAs upregulated and 891 mRNAs downregulated. GO annotation and KEGG pathway enrichment showed that these mRNAs were involved in glycolysis/gluconeogenesis, PI3K-Akt signaling pathways, and HIF-1 signaling pathways. In addition, we found that there were 309 miRNAs differentially expressed (adjusted p < 0.05, |fold change|>1.5) in the HIF1A-knockout HepG2 cells, of which there were 213 miRNAs upregulated and 96 miRNAs downregulated. Our further analyses uncovered that these miRNA putative targets were involved in the hippo signaling pathway, axon guidance, and tight junction. Moreover, the construction and analysis of the PPI network showed that OASL, IL6, and TAF1 were recognized as hub genes with the highest connectivity degrees. Importantly, in the HIF1A-knockout HepG2 cells, our qRT-PCR data confirmed the selected mRNA changes revealed by RNA-sequencing, and with TCGA pan-cancer data, we revealed that the expressional levels of these three genes, LUM, SCOC, and CCL2, were associated with immune cell infiltration levels. Conclusion: The identified potential key network of mRNAs and miRNAs regulated by HIF1A in the HCC cells suggests a key role of HIF1A in the tumorigenesis of HCC.

RESUMO

As an individual plant species can develop its own leaf stoichiometry to adapt to environmental changes, this stoichiometry can provide critical information about a plant species' growth and its potential management in the ecosystem housing it. However, leaf stoichiometry is largely undocumented in regions with large environmental changes arising from differences in elevation. The leaf stoichiometry of Potentilla fruticosa L., a major alpine shrub playing an important role in supporting ecosystem functions and services in China's Qilian Mountains (Northeast Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau), was investigated at different elevations (2,400, 2,600, 2,800, 3,000, 3,200, 3,500, and 3,800 m). At each elevation, leaf elemental (C, N, and P) concentrations were measured in P. fruticosa leaves sampled from three plots (10 × 10 m), and edaphic properties were assessed in nine quadrats (1 × 1 m, three quadrats per plot). Temperature and precipitation were calculated using an empirical formula. Maximum and minimum leaf carbon (C) concentrations ([C] leaf ) of 524 ± 5.88 and 403 ± 3.01 g kg-1 were measured at 2,600 and 3,500 m, respectively. Leaf nitrogen (N) concentration ([N] leaf ) showed a generally increasing trend with elevation and peaked at 3,500 m (27.33 ± 0.26 g kg-1). Leaf phosphorus (P) concentration ([P] leaf ) varied slightly from 2,400 to 3,200 m and then dropped to a minimum (0.60 ± 0.10 g kg-1) at 3800 m. The [C] leaf :[N] leaf , [C] leaf :[P] leaf , and [N] leaf :[P] leaf varied little from 2,400 to 3,000 m but fluctuated somewhat at higher elevations. The main factors affecting P. fruticosa leaf stoichiometry were soil organic C, pH, and soil total P, and the main limiting element for the growth of P. fruticosa in the study area was P. In conclusion, changes in elevation affected leaf stoichiometry of P. fruticosa mainly due to altered soil properties, and addressing phosphorus limitation, especially at higher elevations mainly due to losses caused by high precipitation and sparse vegetation, is a key measure to promote P. fruticosa growth in this region.

RESUMO

Lung Adenosquamous carcinoma (ASC) is a rare histological subtype of lung cancer accounting for 0.4%-4% of all lung cancers. ASC is generally considered to be an aggressive cancer with poor prognosis. There is no specific standard treatment for ASC, and current treatment of ASC is relied on the guideline for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). To date, only sporadic canonical EML4-ALK fusions have been reported in ASC patients, and the efficiency of ALK-TKI is still unclear in non-canonical ALK fusion positive ASC patients. Here we describe the case of a stage IV ASC patient harboring a novel CPE-ALK fusion detected via 74 genes panel analysis. Interestingly, the TP53 was wild-type and no another somatic mutation was found within 74 genes. In addition, immunohistochemical staining (IHC) also supports an oncogenic role for the CPE-ALK fusion. Based on these findings, the patient received alectinib 600 mg twice daily. After 4 months on treatment the patients achieved a radiological partial response (PR) and his symptoms were significantly relieved. Imaging showed that lesions of the patient were reduced, and the clinical evaluation was partial response (PR). To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of a dramatic tumor response to alectinib in a patient with ASC harboring a CPE-ALK fusion. In addition, targeted NGS analysis may improve detection of ALK fusion in routine practice.

RESUMO

Recently, smart 2D covalent organic frameworks (COFs), combining the advantages of both inherent structure features and functional building blocks, have been demonstrated to show reversible changes in conformation, color, and luminescence in response to external stimuli. This review provides a summary on the recent progress of 2D COFs that are responsive to external stimuli such as metal ions, gas molecules, pH values, temperature, electricity, light, etc. Moreover, the responsive mechanisms and design strategies, along with the applications of these stimulus-responsive 2D COFs in chemical sensors and photoelectronic devices are also discussed. It is believed that this review would provide some guidelines for designing novel single-/multistimulus-responsive 2D COFs with controllable responsive behaviors for advanced photoelectronic applications.

RESUMO

AIMS: To assess the protective effects of combined treatment with anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody (mAb) and adenovirus mediated mouse insulin-like growth factor 1 (Adv-mIGF-1) gene on type 1 diabetes (T1D) in nonobese diabetic (NOD) mice at early stage. METHODS: To simultaneously restore the proportion of Th cells and block the interaction of B cells, NOD model mice were assigned to four groups which received PBS, Adv-mIGF-1 gene and anti-CD20 mAbs alone or combination, respectively. After 16 weeks of therapeutic intervention, blood samples and pancreatic tissues of mice were measured via the methods of ELISA, RT-PCR, western blotting, H&E staining, TUNEL and immunohistochemistry assays. KEY FINDINGS: Chronic combination intervention with Adv-mIGF-1 gene and anti-CD20 mAbs reduced the T1D-related morbidity, promoted the secretion of insulin, controlled the blood glucose levels (BGLs) and alleviated insulitis of experimental mice. In addition, current combination intervention also protected the pancreatic ß cells via suppressing the expression of Fas and TNF-α, inhibiting Caspase-3/8 related apoptotic pathway, and activating the Bcl-2-related antiapoptotic pathway. Furthermore, current combination therapy also increased the expression levels of PDX-1 and CK-19 genes, and finally accelerated the proliferation and differentiation of pancreatic ß-cells. In addition, combination therapy could also ameliorate the pathological characteristics of diabetic nephropathy in NOD mice. CONCLUSION: Combination treatment with Adv-mIGF-1 gene and anti-CD20 mAbs may exert a potential beneficial role on T1D in NOD mice.

RESUMO

A new genus (Arboramima Zong, Qin He gen. nov.) with a new species (Arboramima cattusis Zong, Qin He sp. nov.) is reported from Guangxi, China. The morphology of the new genus and species are provided. Samples of Aemodogryllinae species were selected for the reconstruction of phylogenetic tree based on mitochondrial COI fragment. The results supported the validation of the new genus. The type specimens are deposited in Museum of Biology, East China Normal University (ECNU).
